I bought a certified used 2017 Accord LX today to replace my wife's totaled 2013 Sonic LT with 30K miles. The Accord is white with 31k miles and does NOT have the newer turbo engine.
Flew from West MI to Indy to buy the Accord then drove it back through the winter storm... Drove very well in bad conditions and still returned 41 mpg.
The Accord isn't "perfect" - most lease returns are not, even if certified. Our 2013 Sonic had fewer scratches, etc. But for a Honda, it was priced fairly low. It is much larger than a Sonic, and a bit more comfortable on a longer trip, with equal or better MPG.
I did look at some 17-19 Sonics, but the insurance on those was quite a bit higher than the 2013 or the Accord. We have had three Sonics, so we decided to go with a different car.
For what they are, I still think the Sonics are very good cars, just time to move on.
Thanks for all the help over the years.
