No seal on intake

Will it hurt my sonic if the intake seal is not there something got into my engine bay and chewed holes in the rubber intake seal where the intake box meets the intake

If it's the soft tube between the box and turbo/throttle body that has holes in it and it's pulling open air into the tube I would use some duct tape to seal it up until you can get it replaced. Pulling unfiltered air into your engine isn't a good thing.

As long as you're pulling air through the filter the lower portion is to hold the filter, close of the intake to engine bay heat and is a base to the lid. You should be fine and the lower box isn't to hard to find and isn't as expensive as the upper lid.

AS RDSS said as long as ALL the air is going thru the airfilter it's ok.
