Oil smell - anybody else?

When my car reaches operating temperature (15-20 minutes on the highway) I sometimes get a smell of oil in the cabin, does anybody else get this? I have been getting the smell for the past 3-4 years.

Recent oil change? Take it for an around town 30 minute drive to see if that burns off the residue...

Keep an eye on your oil level....

No recent oil change and the smell gets worse (or actually I should say apparent) once you have driven for about half an hour, especially if driven on the highway.

Oil level is fine.

Exhaust leak perhaps? hot header expands opening? Any strange ticking sounds at idle/warm?

Once the car reaches operating temperature and is fully warm (20-30 minutes), at idling the car sounds almost like a diesel engine.

My 1.4 has produced an odor that smells like crankcase blow-by vapors since new, after warming up, at a restart. I only notice the odor when starting when warmed up. I never have discovered the source in over 5 years. It doesn't use any oil, and no visible trace of origin.

The only time I smell my 1.8 burning oil is if I have the dipstick out. But I'm having some engine issues which can cause oil to leak. Supposedly that is why, but I feel like there is something else causing it. I get exhaust smells occasionally because there are some bad seals in the system; manifold and pipes.

So I guess you are not getting the oil smell in the cabin?
