Overheat light came on today...

I pulled into a store, went inside, came out and started the car and the overheating temp light came on. I immediately shut the car off. Waited a bit and did what it said to do in the manual...the light hasn't come on again. But when I checked the engine area is was scorching hot!


This is on the 2012 Chevy Sonic LTZ non turbo.

Any clue?!?

lol, guess their overheating problem wasn't important enough to check back for a response.

Lets revisit this today.....parked once again in 80+ temps...light came on.

Did some self testing.....turned on AC no fan movement. Shut off AC and car engine area was very hot...no fan. The other thing I noticed is when the AC is on sometimes it doesn't blow cold air. Sometimes it takes me flipping the switch back and forth while driving and then it will start to blow cold air like it should. This is usually while I'm driving mind you.

Hoping that's it and hoping that its covered under major guard. Would that cause the fan not to spin, I suppose that would cause it.
