just finished installing a ZZP Race Catback + Exhaust System,
Midpipe
cat delete pipe
Catback exhaust with muffler delete with 3.5" muffler tip

after a few miles of driving a code came up (p0138).

Any advise or how can i fix this code?.

Which cat did you delete?

Have you tried clearing the code and unplugging the battery, and also checking the wiring on the O2 sensors?

Yeah cleared the code and after a few miles it came back up, i dont know if i should replace the o2 sensor, or it sounds like i might need a tune?

That's the one you got? Without the downpipe? You should be tuned before you start deleting cats, but the code I get if I flash to stock is the P0420 (blaze it :b). If you have the money get a tune, and definitely check the wiring because as far as I understand the second O2 sensor shouldn't react to deleting the second cat and should really only tell you that your first cat has malfunctioned. But if you did install the downpipe then yeah you need a tune for sure.

What the P0138 code means

P0138 is the OBD-II generic code indicating the O2 sensor for bank 1 sensor 2 fails to have a lower voltage output below 1.2 volts for more than 10 seconds indicating a lack of oxygen in the exhaust stream.

What causes the P0138 code?

The engine control module (ECM) sees the voltage of the O2 sensor for bank 1 sensor 2 above 1.2 volts when the ECM has commanded the fuel to a targeted lean condition on that bank of the engine.

The ECM detects the voltage high problem and turns on the Check Engine Light.

The ECM uses other O2 sensors to try and control the fuel injection with their values.

What are the symptoms of the P0138 code?

The engine may run lean during the testing of the sensor to correct the problem and may hesitate or misfire.

The Check Engine Light will be illuminated.

You may have engine running problems depending on failure cause of the rich condition.



Sounds like you're running rich to me, Have you done any other work?

My guess is the 2nd o2 is not there. It will never get a p0420 if the o2 sensor is missing. The P0420 is indicative of the cat not working, in other words the rear o2 sensor is seeing to much of a swing.

I know I deleted the second cat with out the O2 sensor with my ZZP exhaust and got no codes.
I did not touch the stock downpipe, first cat or 02 sensor though.,,..it was the ZZP catback,2nd cat delete.

it ended up being the 2nd o2 sensor, replaced it and code was gone.

FYI, do not get the DENSO 234-4528, i ended up buying both the Denso and ACDelco 55574136, it seems the plug has to match the OEM style in order for it to plug right
