Parking brake cable removing/installing.

Anyone ever tried to remove the parking brake cable from the rears? My old setup, prior to the ZZP disc conversion, was drums.

Removing the cable from the holder where it joins to the cable on the car's body was a PITA..

When I put the new calipers on, I had to work the spring on the arm where the parking brake cable would attach...that was a PITA too...

Wonder if anyone has any quick tips on what I may have missed....

I did this about a month ago, water got in my parking brake cable causing the brakes to freeze on in cold weather, and switching it out fixed it, nice, cheap and easy.

For the connector at the caliper, I just kept all attachment points unbolted and the parking brake handle down, put the ball into place, and stretched the cable surround into place with no problems. I then bolted up the cable to the body/suspension and it worked great.

Only annoying part was feeding the cable through the passenger side hole in the body, there's an under-tray there that gets in the way. With a little extra wiggling, had it done easily though, couldn't have taken more than 30 minutes total for the job.

I'm just talking about at the rear drum itself though. From the body, the cable stops, and there's this weird part which holds the end of that cable, and the end the drum cable in that weird part.... that wasn't too bad getting it out (once I figured it out).

The fun part was taking DDM's supplied cable and getting it to attach to the rear caliper part... lots of fun.

Just curious if there was a tool.

But I see what you're saying though

I do need to pop up the center console cup holder. There's an adjustment bolt there for the cable, I think a few turns will move the cable out just a LITTLE bit... enough to ensure the rear section is fully releasing. I think it's still touching slightly.

So I took the little cover off the cup holder in center console. It's a deep 12mm socket.. A few turns to loosen it... Seems good.
