So my car has had a crazy cold start for as long as I can remember, thought it was just a byproduct of the tune and upgrades done at first, but now I’m tired of it and need some help. Give it a listen and let me know what the hell causes this if you have any ideas.

It’ll smooth out after about 15 seconds, but will also misfire on start up, only on cold starts.

Used to have this same issue. Mine was oil residue build up on the pcv valve. Just pop the hose off of the top of the intake manifold, spray some MAF cleaner down there and gently wipe with q-tips til it's clean. If the cleaner dried out just spray a bit more. DO NOT use carb cleaner because it's bad for the rubber valve. (I think it's the rubber. I'm no scientist, I just know it's bad)

It’s not the intake manifold lol, I have the racerx and even when brand new it still did this, even in the bad old stock intake it did this

Have you checked your spark plugs? Have you ensured that your coil pack is in good condition?

Could be spark plugs. Did you swap to a BOV?

Both the plugs and the coil pack are new and in good condition, plugs gapped at .028

Trifecta warned me when i bought mine that the BOV will cause a transient lean condition in cold startup because the tune around the loss of metered air does not work during cold starts or something like that. Most likely that. I ended up switching to the BPV

As far as i know, no. Im not too technical but i assume during cold start the ECM meters the air how it wants and disregards the tune.

You have to specify that you're running a blow off because otherwise the air ratio on the car will be off.

Seriously recommend getting rid of the BOV and stick to the recirculating. Inform your tuner.

Correct. The tune will work for normal driving with the BOV, but cold starts will run lean until its up to temperature. To me its not worth it so i returned mine. Yours you cant return so youll have to make that call if you want to shell out the extra $160. Do you have a wideband? Id be curious to see what the AFRs are during cold starts with this [emoji848]

My afr is off rn anyways because I haven’t been retuned since the racerx intake lol. I’m at 13.2 under full boost
