Protecting Wheels from break dust.

I make it a point to keep my wheels looking clean. Looking for recommendations for a wheel/tire cleaner and something to put on the wheels to protect against break dust. Also a good tire shine. Share your thoughts

I use the Armorall wheel cleaner, it will take anything off, including brake dust and does not harm the wheel. I'm not a fan of shiny tires so I do not use anything.

I usually just use armor all tire shine and it hasn't failed me yet. As for cleaning break dust and preventing I just do the good old fashion getting down while washing my car and give it all a good scrub clean. Keeps it looking brand new for a good 5-7 days with my small amount of travel. Tire shine lasts a good 2-4 weeks. Haven't tried any wheel cleaners really yet.

I am a fan of shiny tires when I am trading the car in so Armorall for the tires at least one time during the time period I own it, maybe two times if I am going back and forth between dealers.

I picked up Eagle One's new Enviroshine line and I'm definitely a fan of their wheel cleaner and tire shine. The shine on my tires lasted a good two or three weeks through dusty construction. The cleaner works about as well as any other out there, no complaints. I got a free bottle of their wheel protectant when I bought them but they couldn't pay me to use that again. It dried and left white residue everywhere no matter how careful I was applying it.

I didn't care for ArmorAll's tire shine; it looked great at first but turned greasy looking after just a couple of days. The AA cleaner I used was perfectly fine.

I'm think i'm going to go with that eagle one's...couple of buddies at work threw that out there. Anyone else have input on something for the rim/help reduce break dust buildup?

SIMPLE GREEN!! It works great for cleaning, plus it is harmless to the brake pads. Spray it all over the wheels and wait a cpl minutes and you can almost rinse away the brake dust.

I also do not care for Armorall. It looks good for a day or two, but I've found that it dulls (like a bleaching effect) the tires over time. If you desire the wet shine look on your tires, Black Magic will work wonders. I personally like my tires "al natural".

Lastly, waxing your rims will protect them and allow you to wipe away brake dust with ease. I've known some to even wax their windows to this same end.
