Question about the Mishimoto racing thermostat.

So, I have been on this great site for a few years, and have learned a lot about our Sonics, the good and the bad. In fact, a lot of that information has given me a few sleepless nights ( LOL ) mostly from the famous coolant issues. So, after some thought, I'm now leaning more towards keeping my 2012 Sonic for a few more years longer, and my plan is to change out the plastic thermostat with a Mishimoto racing ( aluminum ) one.


I do some things on the Sonic myself, but I'm letting someone else ( mechanic ) change out the thermostat. One shop said that they would not do it because of the possible codes that would be caused using a non OEM ( G.M ) part. So, have any of you guys had any issues with codes when you replaced the thermostat with a non OEM part, and has anyone used this brand of thermostat?

I'm not familiar with the thermostat housing you are refering to, i swithced mine to the one sold by ZZP and have not had any codes or issues. My car is stock other than the ported intake and aluminum coolant outlet and thermostat housing.
