Rear brakes, and struts/shocks

Well my 2012 Sonic 1.8 Sedan is approaching 89k and she is due for an over hall.

I'm looking for a set of rear rotors and pads and a inexpensive set struts/shocks for the front end. So any place where I should be able to get some of this stuff...the car is getting up there so not looking to spend a great deal, probably another 2 more years out of it.

I did my fronts awhile back, and don't know much about the rears, are these drum?

You would have rear drums. I'd take a drum off and have a look, they are probably still in good shape, rears only do 25% or so of the total braking and last much longer than the fronts.

I did the pads on my fronts but due to not having the right tools I didn't do my rotors. So those will be getting a full replacement. Have a friend that is a mechanic. He does work at about 75% reduced costs.

By rear drum rotors are looking pretty rusted so think I may just have completely replace all of it.

My front left strut is shot, any place that I can order a cheap set of struts/shocks for the front end as well?

They're easy to replace if you have the right sized socket(s) and a spring compressor... there's no camber adjustment in them so they just bolt right in.

The rear shocks are even easier

Rust on the outside of the drum is just visual..it's the inside which matters. You could have him put a coat of black paint on them when he pulls them off.

That really depends on the driver. Some of my previous cars I would be lucky to get 30,000 miles before I had warped rotors, my Cavalier I got 60,000 out of a set of pads on the front. My 2012 Cruze had 95,000 miles when I traded it, and the pads were still had more than half their original thickness.

If you want your brakes to last you really need to learn to coast out some of your speed before stop signs or lights. I make it a habit to never use my bakes above 40mph when coming to a stop.
