regaped the plugs today. glad i did!

i regaped the plugs today. 1st plug was set at 23 the next was 25 and the 3rd was 25 the 4th was 26. i set them all at 29. what would the effect have been with my gap set as they were any at all? i am no mechanic but the car seems smoother more crisp

Yeah there's a lot of debate about which gap to use, but no question that "all the same" is the way to go.

Symptoms for a bad and/or inconsistent plug gap can include one or more of the following:

-rough idle
-stumbling on acceleration
-occasional misfiring
-loss of fuel economy
-trouble starting

Swordsmith- there is actually little debate on plug gap anymore. Vince from trifecta recommends .028" especially if tuned for the 1.4t engine. OP .029" should be fine.

Did mine today as well...none were the same...i had 20..22...24...19!....set them all to 28..cracked the insulator on one so had to go with autolite...so far so good but might order delco from my dealer

As far as I know, they last longer and provide more consistent spark. I don't cheap out on spark plugs, call it superstition, but it seems with automotive parts, more then others, you get what you pay for....like 99% of the time xD

Spending more won't buy you better performing plugs, just longer-lasting ones. And that's excluding marketing-hype-technology that tries to convince you that sparkplug tech didn't peak 70 years ago (which it pretty much did).

Cheaper, copper-electrode plugs can work well. You'll just be re-gapping/replacing them sooner. Platinum is a large step up in reducing maintenance intervals. Splurge on Iridium only if you plan to install and forget.
