Remote start not working - any thoughts/experience?

I have a 2012 with the factory remote start and just recently I noticed that the remote start is no longer working. All the items listed in the manual which could be causes for the malfunction are not present.

When I try to remote start the car as usual (done it a thousand times) the parking lights flash when you hit the start button and then nothing happens after that.

Car is 100% otherwise.

I tried disconnecting the battery for a few minutes but to no avail.

I am wondering if anybody else had this happen and what the fix was? Thanks in advance.

Yes, I even re-opened and closed again.

Yes it does that, also the parking lights light up when you hit the start button, after that it doesn't attempt to start the car at all.

I even went and reclosed all doors/hood and used my scanner to "erase" codes in the computer (although none were present) and still no luck...

So I tried the remote start today and mysteriously it was working again...let's see how long it works.

Can you elaborate - is this different from disconnecting for ten minutes?

I would chalk it up to being a bug honestly. I have the same issue with my 2012 every now and again for no reason. Then it'll just work again as though nothing happened. Sometimes I've found that if you just start the car like normal, it'll fix the issue. It's also not consistent either. It just happens at random, and will seemingly resolve itself. Just a quirk of the vehicle. Least until someone is able to reproduce this same issue and fix it.

Assume no check engine light. remote start is disabled when it's on.

I am updating this thread for others and hopefully it will help someone later on...I have narrowed it down to the car believing the hood is open while it is not. There must be some kind of sensor - I opened the hood the other day to check the oil or something - after that it would not remote start again. I re-opened the hood and instead of dropping to close it, I pushed it down to close and the remote start worked.

Could be embedded in the lock like the doors
