Removal of overhead light panel to tap Sunroof power lead for Radar detector

I am looking for pictures and advice on removing the overhead light panel/console just in front of the rear view mirror (this is the plastic panel that has some lights and the sunroof switch in it).
Does it just pull straight down? Recommended tool?

I am planning on tapping the sunroof power that I assume is on RAP to run a radar detector, which I plan to clip to the sun visor. I don't really want to run a wire down an A pillar to somewhere under the dash as I don't want to mess with the airbags in the pillars.
And if anyone has the wire colors for the power on the sunroof switch that would be great also.

The front dome light on sunroof equipped cars just pulls down to remove. I don't think you'll want to use the sunroof switch though, or honestly anything up there such as the dome lights. All of these run through the BCM, the switches don't actually have power and ground running to them, they send signals to the BCM. Moreover the dome lights also run through the BCM, that's how they have the fade on/off. You might be safe tapping into the rear dome light since that does have an ON position which would suggest at least that switch position does not go through the BCM.

I would use an add-a-fuse in the fuse box and go up the a-pillar myself. Check out this thread for pics on the fuse box, removing a-pillar, etc.

Thanks. I wa able to figure out how to get the overhead down today. It had a cover that pulls down but the main part is retained with 2 torx screws.
I probed the sunroof switch and it has what seems to be one hot wire on RAP and 2 wires that would present the 12 volts to either the open or closed positions.
The voltmeter showed 12 volts withe the key on and the 12 volts remained until the driver door was opened, then it dropped to zero. I tapped the RAP wire which is pin 1 on the connection.
The only problem I had was while putting it all back together that the connection for the Onstar/Bluetooth mic has a retainer that pushes into the cover and I couldn't get it to push back in as I was installing the cover, I think it's purpose is to keep the connection for the mic to not rattle.
