Can one of you fortunate RS owners please send me your VIN? I hit a large animal on the highway the other day with my '12 LTZ hatchback (reference this thread) and have been trying to find out if I can get an RS bumper & fogs instead of the LTZ's. I emailed GMPartsDirect as recommended by other members here, and this was the reply:
Unfortunately, as you can see, they were no help in determining interchangeability. I wish I could find an RS to look at in person so I can evaluate this -- I certainly don't want to drop a bunch of money on parts I can't use! Anyway, a VIN will help me get started ... insurance will be paying for most of the major components, but I'll probably have to buy the other (undamaged) foglight and the lower grille, so if it's going to cost a fortune more (aside from the $500 deductible I'm already out), perhaps I might reconsider.
Thanks in advance. If you're uncomfortable posting your VIN here in the thread, feel free to PM me.
We want to make sure that we supply you with the correct part numbers. Please provide a complete description of the parts needed (location, function, etc), along with the VIN from the vehicle in question, so that we can supply the part numbers requested.
We do not have any way of telling if a part from another vehicle will fit yours properly without modification to the part. Please research parts that did not come on your vehicle from the factory to make sure they will fit your vehicle. No one wants to be stuck with parts that don’t fit due to bad information.
We understand you want parts from another vehicle that was manufactured with an item, or an option. In order to add them to your vehicle which did not come with this type of part or option, we will require a VIN number FROM the vehicle that was manufactured with.
(**NOT YOUR VEHICLES VIN**).
Without this VIN number we will not be able to determine the correct part number you need.
Most of our customers in the past have found a vehicle either at their local gm dealer or have a friend and have supplied us the VIN number from the vehicle they wanted the parts for. We will help you in any way possible but we need a good VIN for the parts you want.
