Sadev AWD system!

I've been in contact with Sadev (company responsible for Ken Block's awd Fiesta) about a set up for our cars. They said they haven't had too much of a chance to look into it, but the guy is checking on it and should have an idea about price, availability, and options fairly soon. So for those of us interested in entering SCCA races for Rally, RallyX, or just to have awd....it may be coming soon! I will keep you posted when I get more info!

Sounds expensive but also a really neat idea if they do produce a system.

Let us know how it goes for you. I personally would rather drop big bucks on my truck though. I point mods at my car to improve MPG's and fun vs turning it into something it's not.

It will definitely be one of the most expensive mods that could be done, but for competition or just some added fun to drive with...it may be worth it.

I'm not really trying to make mine into some monster, I just want it to be a capable rally fighter and more versatile.

I completely agree! It will be sick and could put the Sonic into some races that it could never perform in the way it is. Please don't take what I said as an insult. I honestly have gotten hooked on the cheap quick mods that make this car more fun to drive and as soon as they start to hurt the reason I bought it (mpg's) I fully intend to stop.

I do look forward to what you have planned if you're going to "track" the hell out of it. I would have chosen a different platform but respect what you're doing and hope it works out great for you. If it does it will probably produce some normal day car parts for us common modifies.

If you don't go crazy on the power, an LSD and lots of sticky rubber should be sufficient to put the power down on these cars.

Very interesting option though. Looking forward to where this goes. Will likely require rear floor modification and some sort of irs conversion. Is there even a tunnel to run a driveshaft?

The exhaust runs down the center of the car in a "drive shaft tunnel" of sorts. It runs right into the fuel tank though and is why the exhaust makes a 90 degree turn right before it.

So at least an exhaust reroute and new fuel tank. Some AWD run the exhaust and shaft in the same tunnel. Not sure how large ours is

I'm (as well as a ton of others) am running a 2.5" with plenty of room for a 3-3.5" drive shaft. Like you and I stated, the gas tank and exhaust route are the next problems. And we haven't even started to deal with Sadev's issue of the engine and transmission set up.....

Those are all issues that have come up with the build. The fuel tank can be remedied by using a fuel cell within the car, the exhaust would have to set up in such a way that 99 percent of the people doing it would probably not be able to legally street the car. Open exhaust exiting somewhere after the driver front tire on the side skirt. Keep in mind, this plan is for a car that will not be a street to strip kind of set up. Only track use once it gets to this point. That isn't to say that someone with a bit more ingenuity won't see an opportunity to make a better design for street use.

I know the Sonic isn't the number one choice for Rally, but I think that's why I like it for the project. Something unexpected and what not. An under dog situation. Let's not forget, also, that the original Mini Cooper wasn't much to talk about (90bhp) but it managed to be a formiddable rally champion.

To be honest, they never really released anything about it. I think the only thing done to the car was suspension and the interior pulled for a roll cage. Although if memory serves...the exhaust did sound a bit beefier.

No offence but wouldnt it be easier and cheaper to find an AWD vehicle already like a Mini Cooper?
