I own a 2015 Chevy Sonic LT
I was informed my oil coolant system and turbocharger had to be replaced but is covered under the Powertrain warranty the service guy informed me that and I quote “ the pipes that connect the two need to be replaced as well but they aren’t covered “. He informed after we went in circles about why they aren’t covered and he had an excuse on top of excuse why it wasn’t and why it had to be replaced. The final blow was him telling me that if I didn’t replace them the two other parts would have their warranty voided and they were about five grand with labor that I would be voiding the warranty to. I felt bullied and agreed to the repairs.
I did some research afterwards and from what I read oil lines are covered. On the invoice the technician listed them as oil lines but in the section where my charges are listed they are called turbo lines.
Is there a difference between oil lines and turbo oil lines ? From what I read they are the same thing and the lines feed the cooled oil to the turbocharger and another line feeds it back to the oil coolant system. I also read that when you change the turbocharger those lines are changed as well okay if it’s mandatory and is an oil line then why isn’t it covered under Powertrain?
Does anyone know if these lines are in fact covered or not covered? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
