Need help locating the source of a slight “klumpity Klump” sound that appears to be coming from the Front Right.
2013 LT Hatchback 16” Stock wheels & tires - 20K miles – Ride & steering response feels normal.
Klumps seem way more noticeable at low speeds. Surely appears if you travel on a straight smooth road, ~10 MPH, and quickly jog the steering wheel back and forth. Also hear it when traveling over slight bumpy roads.
Have “jack” lifted one side or the other a few times ( along with the rear), looked for: loose/worn ball joints, tie rods ends, stabilizer link play. I have taken hold / pushed-pulled and also used a 24” prybar - all “seems” secure.
Noticed the mud flaps seemed to hit and make noise (when pushed about), so I inserted some rubber in wear areas, no change. Found a few points where the front undercarriage covers seemed to rub / hit – tie-wrapped them, no change. Grabbed hold of the tires/wheels – shaken both up & down, back and forth, no odd movement other than a wee bit of steering movement..
Looked under the Hood – expecting perhaps a loose Windshield Water bottle, or loose horn mount – yet to find the source
Almost as if the passenger side seat belt clasp was hitting on the “B”? Pillar, but it’s not and sure sounds like it coming from more the front.
Looked under the spare tire, to see if anything is loose, taken out everything from the back luggage area, no change in sound.
I read all about the earlier (& perhaps all) Stabilizer Links wearing and needing replaced – so I’ve been expecting them to fail, but they feel secure. – Granted could still be the issue.
Not overly concerned about any catastrophic failures, just kinda annoying right now, my wife tells me to just turn up the radio.
Not (yet) worth talking & taking into the Dealer, though if I don’t find the source buy inspection time (a few months away), I will mention it to them then.
Any & all thoughts & suggestions are welcome.

Joe
