So long story short I replaced my factory turbo on my 2013 1.4 at 174,143 miles due to the fact that on certain occasions under wide open throttle it would suddenly cut boost and fall on its face (so I guess that's limp mode) I had replaced the factory bypass valve with the forge bpv (yellow spring) and the BNR wastegate actuator which was at 1.5 turns.
When I had the turbo replaced I had the forge bpv and the BNR wastegate actuator moved to the new Turbo. I reached out to Jerry at BNR since my car has been tuned with BNR since 62,000 MI exceeded to keep it at low boost so basically light throttle for the first thousand miles which I did. With the advice of James Palmer I replaced the math sensor on the intake manifold and on the charge pipe coming off the intercooler. He said that these were both two bar sensors off the 2016 and beyond sonics where my 2013 had 1.5 bar sensors.
If I'm not hard on the throttle the car is fine if I'm on wide open throttle the boost will Spike anywhere from 263 kPa to 290 kPa which if I remember correctly is anywhere from 24 to 27 PSI and it will suddenly cut out and fall on its face. I did get one check engine light for codes p0238 which is turbocharger high circuit output a and p2227 which is barometric pressure sensor.
I have sent logs into Jerry and I'm just waiting for him to respond it's been a few days now and I understand he's a busy man.
I figured I would reach out on here and see if anyone could give me any advice where to go in the meantime on like possible solutions because I'm stumped and the time frame to physically work on my car on the outside is coming to a close because it's November in Northeast Ohio unfortunately I don't have a garage to work on my Sonic.
It's slightly frustrating because I would like to go wide open throttle no I can't because it'll boost spike and go into limp mode.
it's also frustrating because I figured new turbo this issue should go away and yet here it is.
Any advice?
