Sonic 1.8L engine oil pressure light coming on..

So a few weeks ago my Engine oil pressure light came on. I pulled over checked oil it was a quart low. Picked up a quart refilled. Didn't come back on.

Brought car in for a oil change 2 weeks ago. Light came on again at a stop. But has since gone off.

Would this be a sign of a bad sensor or something much worse? Thanks.

Update it came on twice today but only at full stop idle. Once I stepped on the gas it went off. Any clue?

I get that too, thought it was a product of me taking out the ABS and traction fuse.

Non-Sonic specific answer. Oil pressure light and being a quart low are not related. Low RPM and oil pressure light implies insufficient output from the oil pump, worn bearings, or diluted oil. Any of these are not good. You may stave off the problem by running thicker oil.

Great info! I did an oil change today and did notice the oil was a tad thinner than the new oil that I put in. That is by no means scientific but I did notice.

What would cause the oil to be diluted? I didn’t have extra amount of oil come out of the pan like coolant was being mixed in.

Oil can be diluted by coolant (head gasket) or by fuel (overfueling by bad injectors). In both cases you would have a oil volume increase.

Another possibility is loss of viscosity through high speeds or significantly exceeding time between oil changes.

Although the part is cheap, access is difficult.

There was some discussion of a recall on 2012s but it looks like it was a mislead
