Car and Driver magazine reviewer Don Sherman says the new 2012 Buick Verano "makes us forget the '92 Skylark for good." In the December 2011 edition, Sherman comments "the old Buick is dead" and Verano is "the new Buick's poster child." According to Sherman, Verano's "mission is to take the pain out of small-car, high-efficiency driving."
Members of United Auto Workers Local 5960 who produce the Sonic hatchback and sedan are the same people who make Verano at GM's Orion Assembly Center in Oakland County, Michigan. It's not unusual to see a Sonic and a Verano on the assembly line at the same time.
