Hello All - I've been following the Sonic since it came out. I went on 3-7 to test drive one at Mark's Casa Chev in Albuquerque. They showed me a nice red LT hatchback to test out. Liked it alot, but told the saleman I wanted LTZ turbo hatchback. They didn't have one but asked if they could find one would I buy it.
I said sure, so we did the paperwork and they said it would take 3 or 4 days to ship it in. The sales mng had them top off a black LT with gas and gave it to me as a loaner. It had 3 miles on it!
After a couple of days they called and said they couldn't get the car from the dealer they thought they had purchased it from, would I go for another? I said no problem and they let me keep the loaner. Again and again they were unable to locate and secure a Sonic LTZ turbo built the way I wanted.
Today on the 8th day they asked me come in so they could run a proposition by me. They offered to sell me the loaner now and have a Sonic LTZ Turbo built to my specs and delivered in approx 8 weeks. Not only that but they will buy back the loaner at total purchase price when the new one arrives.
Wow, what a deal. I'll have had 2 new Sonics in one year.
The LT is a great car, can't wait for the LTZ.

Just be careful with that kind of deal. Make sure everything they promised is written in a contract.

Yeah....I wouldn't touch that with a 10 mile pole. That is ALL sorts of shady sounding.

Welcome aboard Gary! Does sound shady, but as AndrewGS stated get it in writing (read all the fine print $hit too) and have a blast with what will basically be a free rental! Beat the crap out of it!

I should have been more clear. I used to work in auto sales as my first job years ago.The deal is in writing, basically zero down, no trade and total delivered price (including license, reg and tax) applied as trade in allowance on build car upon delivery. I am only out finance charge of a payment and half for use of a new car for 8 weeks or so. Plus I was given a loaner for 8 days free of charge as they tried to fulfill the original contract. This is the 3rd new vehicle I purchased from this dealer, so I imagine some customer loyalty/ satisfaction considerations involved.

LTZ Turbo 6 speed manual

Well it took just over 6 weeks but I just picked up up my Victory Red LTZ Turbo. The dealership lived up to their bargain and credited me the total purchase price towards the new one. With my GM Supplier discount it was a difference of 1016 dollars between a 1.8 Lt auto and the new LTZ Turbo sunroof etc.
I put just over 2000 miles on the 'loaner' averaging 33.9 mpg. That was an awesome car and I hated to part with it, but the 'built' one is like a dream. The LTZ seems even more solid, and is much quicker!

That sound like a great deal. I went through kinda the same thing here in Phoenix. Two Dealers tried three times to bring in an LTZ 1.4 for another location, but they were all SOLD before they could get transfered. Then they found one in California and told me I would have to pay for the shipping. So I decided to order one, took seven weeks but it was worth it to get what I wanted. I would have drove to New Mexico to get the deal you got. My dealership even tried to rework the deal that we had agreed on once the vehicle arrived. (Total Scumbags)
