Sonic sway bar linkage

Hello Everyone...
We have had the linkages replace three times under warranty and it needs them again. I am pushing the 36,000 mile mark and have made an appointment with a different dealership then where I purchased the car. We have had a falling out of sorts. Will GM still cover this if I go over 36,000 miles as it is a known issue? I do not really want to have to park it for a week and run my Silverado to work {70 miles round trip}. This is why I bought the Sonic. To use my bought new 2011 truck as a truck and not a commuter vehicle.

I would imagine you should be able to get it replaced outside the 36k mi warranty period for atleast 1 of 2 reasons.

You've had an ongoing issue that still hasn't been adequately resolved.

I'm not sure how the bulletin goes for this repair but it's not uncommon for repairs of this nature to be given an extended warranty on the part covered under the service bulletin and sometimes they will extend the warranty on said parts for the 1st failure (i.e. the original links fail at 40k mi they might still warranty them).


Now I think you have a bigger issue than sway bar links. 4 links in 36k mi , either you drive on horrible roads and hit every pothole or there is an underlying issue. I'm going with the latter. Usually if it's not fixed by throwing parts at it a 2nd time there's another issue, Throwing the same part at it a 3rd time will fix it once in a blue moon, throwing parts at it a 4th time and the person is certifiably insane.

The roads we drive are not bad at all actually. We live on a major road and transfer to the Maine Turnpike to get to work. I think it is an underlying problem for sure. I have high hopes for the dealership we are bringing it to on Tuesday morning. The last one has been less than desirable. They crushed in the rocker panels and when I brought it back a week later to show them they called me a lier and said it happened on someone elses lift. That did not sit well. The car has never been on another lift. They "fixed" it even so and now the paint they laid down is bubbling and looks horrible. I know things happen but my 2012 vehicle should not sound like a moracca going down the highway. See how it goes I guess.

Guys i replaced mine today with 2010 Cobalt SS end links, took bought 25 min total and tightened up the front end significantly ,.

Some people have had issues with upper strut mounts and/or the spring isolators. When either of these are bad, you may get a rattle similar to bad anti-sway bar links.

you can get them replaced every 364 days for eternity under manufacturer's warranty. parts and labor are covered for one year unlimited miles on all dealer installed parts. if not, change dealers.
