Stock 15's with 50 series tires

I tried searching but didn't come up with much.
Has anyone done it?
I would like lower profile tires that are a bit stiffer but I don't want to kill my gas mileage and I don't want to spend a ton of money on rims either. I bought this car to be cheap but still fun and I'm trying to avoid going mod crazy and stick to that idea. Otherwise I'll feel dumb for not just buying a sportier car from the start.
It will probably be a while anyways I'm not going to just throw out the stock tires that are on there but when I go to replace them I'd kind of like to go either 195 or 205/50 on tires instead of the stock 65's.

Not a good idea. You will likely hurt your gas mileage because the tires will be smaller in diameter, forcing you to increase engine RPM for the same speed.

Your wheel gaps will increase, and everyone will laugh at you. :banana:

The proper alternative would be a 225/50/15, this is just 0.1" smaller in diameter.

I had 5hought about that but didn't th8nk going that wide on the narrow stock rim was a good idea. I might just go 205/60/15 when the time comes.

That size works on 6-8" wheel widths, so you'd be fine. Choices are a bit limited though, most are competition tires.

Thanks for the input that looks promising. Still off stock by -4.7% but that's not too much. I'll have to think about the weight. It'll probably be between 225/50's and 205/60's.
