Third gear auto slippage

I posted a issue with a "surge" but now since I have almost 4K on the car, the surge is gone. Been dealing with a third gear slip when slowing down and trans is in third. Takes about 5 seconds until it grabs. I do mean when slowing to a stop ( lets taking a turn ) trans slips. Trying to burn up the 3/5 clutch up before I take it in for repair. Hell the car doesn't even have 4K on it. Did read about the clutches sticking in the drum. Anyone have the same issue?

well seems like you all are running manual trans. But for the few of us running auto for the RS, I might have some info later early next month when I put it in for warranty. Every time I slow down to 20ish ( third gear ) and accelerate, my rpm's stay at 2k and slowly accelerate the rpm's stay the same. WTF. I will update this after I get it back from the dealer.

I'm sure others have experienced this. They just don't know it.

I've also had that same low speed flare in 3rd gear since the car was new. Drives me nuts. Did you find a cause?

My car has the 3rd gear flare and has for a long time. Like others, I want to wait until it gets worse before dealing with warranty replacement of a trans, but it hasn't.

I'm starting to believe it's the TCC, not the gear itself. I've noticed it happen lightly in other gears, and the stock TCM programming keeps the converter open in 1st and 2nd, then starts to engage it in 3rd and up depending on other conditions. I think it's a weakness of TCC apply pressure, at least on my car. I'm tempted to crank it up with HP Tuners and see what happens, but i'd hate to fry it and have a freeze frame showing implausible pressures and get my warranty claim rejected.
