Tire rotation question

So this is my first fwd vehicle as I have owned trucks before. I didn't know there was a difference between fwd and rwd tire rotations. Now I have been doing the rwd rotation for my car. Rear wheels strait forward and front cross and to the rear. Will this hurt my tires? My factory tires were shot at 40k. Those hancook sucked. I have perilli p7's now and their great. But the car has 65K on it and I've been doing the tire rotation backwards. Haha is this bad? And what's the reason for this certain rotation pattern?

When I worked at wally world selling tires we just told people do them front to back. I mean really if you think about it, the biggest thing especially on a fwd car is the inner shoulders of your tires that will take wear imo. Not sure what crossing them is really going to do for you, do that if that's what you want. But I'd say you'd be fine going front to back. IE driver front goes to driver rear, and vice versa.

i personally don't do tire rotations lol i dont like the tires wearing evenly so to say because that just means i have to replace all 4 at once, easier to keep fronts on front and rears on rear and only replace 2 tires every now and then. just my 2 cents

I think the tires are not directional you can cross rotate them. If they are directional you can only move them front to back, back to front on the same side ...

Around here tire dealers are reluctant to put new tires on the front. In the snow the vehicle will fishtail as the rear tires break away first. They may even refuse to rotate if the fronts are considerably more worn than the rears.

The usual rotation pattern for front wheel drive vehicles is to move the fronts to the rear on the same sides so they can "rest" after working at accelerating, steering, and braking. The rears are moved to opposite sides on the front to equalize wear. This is not possible for directional tires.

well we also rarely get snow here, it's only snowed once here in the past 2 years and it only lasted a week lol.

I know someone who had worn the front tires on her Focus (the POS model) nearly bald. She had trouble finding a dealer to rotate the tires. She eventually got them rotated and was doing well until the first time she applied the non-ABS brakes in the rain. The front and rear tried to swap ends.

With ABS and stability control this shouldn't be as much of a problem.
