Tow Hook? in front?

I spent a day on this and i still can't find a tow hook, or how to "install" it in the front, the TJIN Edition has one ! why can't we have one! lol :sadbanana:




Does anyone know where to get one , or put it in? lol

Why do you want one so badly, to copy all the mother****ing ricers who think it's cool to have all these exposed tow hooks. This has to be one of the most stupidest fads to ever come out, besides the infamous tow hook dolls that goes along right with it lmao! It's an oximoron, those tow hooks are supposed to "tow" a vehicle, but do you really think you can tow a fwd car from the front, I don't think so. What y'all do just for that wannabe "drag racer" look is beyond me, but it's your car, I'm just telling it like it is & how ridiculous such crap looks hahaha!

Anyway, the US models are not equipped for the installation of a tow hook. If you're determined to have one, I don't see why one couldn't be fixed to the crash beam located directly behind the mustache of the lower grill, but it would be an extensive job for something that would likely never be used.

you all screwed up.... "tow" on cars are actually tie down hook (which if you are planning trailering your car much is gold).... they could be used for light off the road recovery from a tow truck....

2nd how would you Tow a front wheel drive car from the side?? lol actually i read in the owners manual on the sonic that even the automatic can be towed 4 wheels on the ground as long as every so often you started the motor (i think every hour or maybe it was 2) to lube the tranny

Isn't that hook so if you crash or fail on the track they can yank your ass off of the track? Seems like it doesn't matter which wheels drive the car.

Going off of the picture in the first post, I can assume that that tow hook is attached to the reinforcement beam that is behind the mustachioed portion of the front bumper cover.

This jives with Preloader's recommendation to attach it to that beam. You'll have to remove the whole fascia/cover, mount your hook of choice to the beam, measure/mark, measure/mark, measure/mark, and then carefully cut a slot/hole in the fascia/cover for the hook to protrude through. Note that I said measure/mark three times. You want to be absolutely sure you have guessed correctly before cutting the bumper.

Tow hooks aren't for everyone, but if your gonna mount one do it right and take pictures so if there happens to be another member who wants one he will have yours as a reference, I wouldn't put one on my car because it would be cosmetic only and I personally don't think they look cool enough, but if I used it and I used it often I wouldn't care what it looks like I'm all about making things easier

I think a tow hook (or tie down) could look good on a Sonic if it was done correctly. Hell I've even thought about trying to make one work. Like Eric said they are mostly used to yank you back on the track or out of a ditch if you f*ck up on the track. It's not a Ricer fad it started a long time ago by serious track cars who needed a solid mount that was easy to reach since you couldn't get to the frame or axle on a such a modified/lowered vehicle. It is sad that ricers have made this a popular mod but that's how everything happens.

Honestly, I track my car for fun but I really don't intend to wreck so I have no need for a tow hook. If you NEVER go to the track at all it's definitely not worth adding one.

Damn, that guy snapped for doing stuff to my own car! lol, the reason i want so bad is that where i live it gets extremly muddy in the winter, and all of my friends that have little cars have one, because we always get stuck everywhere!
