Hi all,
I've been browsing through the forums trying to find a solution to my transmission issues. Having a lot of the same problems others have noted with clunky transmission, hard shifting, and delayed shifting into higher gears. I've had the car in to a few shops for other issues and asked each time for them to look into the transmission but nothing specific was found and its throwing no codes. I've seen a lot of talk here about re-gapping spark plugs, etc but wanted to try simply resetting the transmission control module before going that route.
So I reset the TCM yesterday and took the car for a 20 min spin as recommended to reprogram the thing. For those 20 minutes it was like having a brand new sonic. It drove and shifted so smoothly, had so much more power behind the pedal, etc. Went to bed and when I drove it to work this morning, it was back to its old clunky self. What??
Anyone know why this could be? The fact that it was driving smooth as butter after the tcm reset tells me its not a mechanical issue. Could it be a sensor issue, or is the TCM itself bad and needs to be replaced? Any commonly known issues or anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance!
