Two Sonic Issues - Starting and Suspension

Hello!

New member here. We have a 2012 Sonic, affectionately named Zippy that we have two issue we need help with

1. The engine is not starting when we try to use the key....but, if we use the remote start it kicks right on. I tried to google this and got nothing. Any ideas what would cause this?

2. It seems every time we go over any bump, hole etc...the undercarriage makes clunking sounds. We have never replaced the shocks and/or strut cartridges but dont want to drop huge $$$ if this isnt the issue (basically i dont trust mechanics)

1. do you have a 2nd key to try? I wonder if theyre paired differently from remote control vs immobilizer. Do you get the car with a lock light on the dash?

2. sway bar links are a common failure that cause noise on bumps.

I would think noise over bumps would be struts rather than sway bar links. Sway bar links noise are usually associated when turning. It is recommended that you replace them together to save on labour time, so if you could wait a little longer and replace both at the same time, it's be better. I just bought my struts for $200 USD shipping included and 2 sway bar links for $35 USD as a pair. Look at different places online for the best price.

I had a thump and it turned out to be engine mounts.
