Upshift Notification

When driving my 6 speed 1.4L Turbo, the HUD will pop an indicator up when the car "thinks" I should upshift. It seems to be programmed to upshift notify at fairly low RPMs, I'm assuming this is to obtain maximum MPGs... whatever the reason and how minimal the irritant may be, I would like it to stop. I've been messing with the preference options but can't seem to figure out if or how I can turn that feature off. If anyone knows a way to turn it off, I would love to know, and if not... I guess I'll just continue to ignore it.

I suppose you could put a small little piece of blue duct tape over that spot.

My previous car was a 97' Camaro and would stutter if I shifted anywhere under 3500 RPMs, and I'm getting carried away with wanting to feel that boost pull, so I often find myself upshifting right into another notification.

6 cylinder camaro? V8's usually can limped along keeping the rpms around 2000.....thats how my friends back home would avoid loud exhaust tickets in the neighborhoods.

A good trick to keep the light from coming on is putting your foot into it, I noticed a heavy foot keeps it off. 1-2-3-5/6 for skip shifting purposes

Unfortunately yes it was a V6 3.8L, had I owned the V8, I may not have traded it in for my Sonic. ... but probably.

It is definitely the most easily ignorable of the shift lights I've seen in a modern car. I test drove a Fiesta and their shift light is bright orange and right in the middle of the tach. Really stands out against the rest of the dash in a way that the Sonic's doesn't.

Funny you say it comes on early, mine doesn't flash untill I get above 4k. Sometime I want to shift but stay in it to see when it comes on. I will say that in the higher gears it comes on sooner. I have only had the car 3 week so I am getting use to it.

I think it would be kinda cool if the car could be tuned to use that light as a "shift light" for peak performance shift points in performance mode instead of peak MPG shift points.

it does change based on how close to the floor you have the pedal...then again I've never reved it up and looked at the same time lol
