Want to buy an intake (aftermarket)

Looking to buy an intake for my new Sonic! It'd be shipped to 80919 in Colorado, also would do local pickup. Trying to stay sub $200, but closer to $150 would make the wife much happier.

Best deals would be the classified here as they come up.. here's my recent story...

The MPFab i brought here has been worth the price.. at first I couldn't get over the sound it made ..but boy does my kid like the sound.

I also tried hard piping the stock air box and I ported the stock airbox out, got rid of the snorkel, k&n filter ...that is a good improvement on the stock air box ...well worth the time if you don't want to buy an intake.

But I then put the MPFab back on (so back and forth comparison to the stock box) and
the MPFab definitely makes the mid and upper range better. One does need to get used to the intake noise I feel. The stock box was the better on intake temperatures (as measured on the ultraguage...do pick up one of those first) when the car was in stop and go traffic. Once going the MPFab and StockBox seemed close in intake temperature. I do feel, as I read here ,and see on the short term fuel trim that the MPFab is getting a bit more positive trim (leaner) and the stock airbox had a bit more negative trim (richer). But both must be in range because no codes.

I should add that this is with my tune... I have not gone back to stock and compared.
I still want to datalog with the MPFab to see if Jerry can do anything with it or least see if everything is in range.. Runs good though ..

Good stuff! Is there a walk through or anything on modifying the stock intake like you did?

Check the DIY on the stock intake mod, should be called something like "hard piping the SAB," there's also something on removing the snorkel. I believe that one is under the MPFab section of the forum, and might be referred to as a baffle.

Honeycomb is there.. maybe I don't know..all I noticed was the short term fuel trim seemed to be more posting than negative.

Well I know his website says that the honeycomb should fix some issue that the intake had, something about a ten cent screen or something. Idk, that's before my time. It also said that it would make you run slightly rich at idle. I know my car pops more now than it did before. It's beautiful. banana?

i'm on the fence... I like the MPFab top end increase., but dont care too much for the intake noise. ..its a personal preference thing I guess. Been going back and forth between the MPFab and hard piped stock air box.
