were to find vin# on trans?

hey guys im wondering if anyone knows were on the trans is a vin #. just had my trans replaced (maybe) under warenty, the tech who did the work wasnt there when i picked my car up so i couldnt talk to him to find out if they just rebuilt it or actually replaced the whole thing and the guy at the parts counter was halfway clueless.

I do not believe the VIN is stamped on the transmission.

Chevy replaces the whole transmission and does not rebuild/repair. I learned that when I replaced the open differential with a limited slip differential. So based on that, you can either do a fist pump because you have a new trans or a frowny face because you have a new trans.
