What is this little cubby for? First aid kit in Euro models maybe? Also, what are the little hooks for that are on the sides, and also on the back of the rear seats?

The hooks are for securing cargo and/or securing cargo net, not sure what the cubby hole is for though. It looks like it's quite specific and could be a first aid kit location like you said, maybe a road side safety kit.

How does it lock into place? I don't see any sort of locking mechanism to prevent it from falling.

I thought about finding a little tool bag to put in there.

I'd love that cubby, that's where my amp is now so I'd love to just be able to mount and have a built in viewing window with plexiglass over it!!

The things on the back of the rear seats are for securing a child's car seat.
