Wheels for Winter Tires?

I hate to mention winter in June. But I'm planning for our Upstate NY winters and was wondering what wheels would fit the Sonic LT, I have 15" now. For example, Cruz, Cobalt, etc. I have seen tires the correct size on Craigs list, but not sure of how to check fit of wheels. Steel type most likely. Then there's the TPS? Thanks for any help.

Just for grins, I tried a 15" steel wheel from our HHR, No Good, the Sonic lug pattern is smaller Diameter.

Canadian base Sonic has 15" steelies.

Any wheel from the Cruze, Sonic or Volt will work with the proper size tire for the Sonic.

I wish I felt like shipping my unused stock 15" alloys, I'd sell 'em.

Yep. HHR is 5X110 and the Sonic/Cruze/Volt are 5X105.

Here are some 16" Steel's for the Cruze. 100 bucks a piece with free shipping. But like you already stated, you will need 4 TPS sensors.

Tps...yep, I'm sure now I'll have to shell out for those on my next set. I figured I'd wrap the 15in stockers in winter rubber in a few months and then get some 17's and summer rubber for next year.

I was planning to do what THKPIC said. Switch to winters on the stock rims and get some good summer rims.

I'm gonna run my stock 17's in winter and keep my orange ones for summer, 17" winters are not to to pricey because they are commom up here since winter tires are mandatory from dec 13 til march 13th.

make sure you check tire/wheel width. OEM wheels are 6 - 6.5 inches and aftermarket are usually 7.5 - 8 inches.

Probably pick up a set of adapters and run the 14" Calais wheels I have with snow tires on them. Just a touch to tall, but I have them already and probably wont be driving teh Cavalier this winter. 13# wheels did surprisingly well in the winter with some Firestone Winterforce tires on them.

Before blowing the funds for adapters, check and see if the Calais wheels will even clear the front brakes. Our five lug Sonics have significantly larger front brakes than our Aveo II brothers overseas.

You can probably get the factory 15" steel wheels for the same price or cheaper than a set of adapters anyway.

Now that the standard wheel for the 2013 LS is the 15" steel, I expect it will be easier and even cheaper to go that route for a winter rim.

I am planning on using 16s from a cavalier eventually, so the adapters would not be a wasted cost. I thunk they will Clear regardless due to the 3/4" spacing from the hub.

I wasn't referring to the back of the wheel face clearing. I don't think the ID of the wheel barrel will clear the outside (top) of the caliper body.

It looks like there is a good bit of clearance with the 15s and the 3/4" spacers will push the wheel out further. the inside diameter of the wheel gets bigger as it gets away from the hub face. I think it will clear. Once winter gets closer I will test fit and see how it goes. a 5x100 wheel should be close enough to barely slide over the studs to check clearance around teh caliper.
