Where do you put your Phone Mount for GPS?

So I am not a BringGo fan and would rather just use my smartphone for GPS however, I bought supposedly one of the best car mounts and it will just not stick to my dash properly (because of the sonic's curved dash).

I bought the iOttie Easy One Touch 2 and tried sticking it in the middle (above the center vents and below the little change holder in the middle near the windshield and find that it always falls off.

I know many people use their smartphone/tablet for GPS instead of BringGo and was wondering what setup works for you to mount your phone/tablet to your dash?

Could you provide the car mount you use and the location you use it in (pics would be best if you have them.) It might help others out like myself that are having a hard time finding the proper placement for my phone mount.

Did you try sticking it to the inside of the pockets on either side of the radio? Try and see if it fits inside there and will latch on.

Other than that I know some guys made a flat piece of plastic to attach to the GPS mount and slid it into the card holder in the center dash if you have that available. If youa re using an iPhone 4-5S you can do what I do and just push the phone vertically into this slot and it works great as well. No pic but imagine your phone facing you vertically standing in that slot, it fits perfect and stays while you drive, I'll have to find a pic if you want one.

Not sure if u can find this mount for a phone but a friend has one for his gps that's like a sand bag or something that holds it where the little gps spots above the middle vents is. I rode for hours with it on rough roads and it never moved.

As for me, I rarely use the gps and haven't tried with my iPhone 6+ but with my 5 that had flat sides I would set it in the touch screen for the radio. There is a small lip and if u drive ok it will stay there.


If I die, bury me in my truck, because it's never been in a hole it can't get out of!

I did that and it scratch the inside of the pocket as its a few cm too big.

technically you can stick your phone in that cubby space right behind the shifter and it will stay. The only thing you have to watch for is when you have a cord plugged into it and if the phone is too big to fit in there.

I've had and used several different mounts - and had good luck with them. I haven't acquired one for our relatively new Sonic yet though.

I've had the windshield mounts that use a suction cup setup to stick to the windshield. They worked well.

In my Pontiac Torrent, I've currently got a mount that clips to my center air vent. It also works well - went this direction so it's not on the windshield (illegal in some states).

I've used the heavy bag mount that sits on top of the dash (I think it would fit well into the little catch all on top of the dash). It stayed put and worked well - that was for our old Garmin GPS - but they have similar mounts for phones now.

I've got a lightweight, anti-slip mount in my company car that is portable and I also use it in my GTO, Camaro as needed. My wife has one too, that she uses in rental cars (she flies all over north America).

Look on amazon and you can see literally hundreds of them.

You can also try a flex floor mount for phones, they can work pretty well and not a high priced option.

This is the first one I saw looking for a link but they are made for all phones. I will say they are quite stiff which is good. I looked under the plastic and its only an metal tube so you wouldn't want to bend it repeatedly or it would fatigue and break, but it does the job. Just fits on a seat bolt.

ProClip makes some of the best custom made mounts available. Vehicle specific mounts paired with device specific holders. I have the one for the center console, with a horizontal adapter to hold two phones.

I bought a cheap phone holder from walmart that came with a piece of thin metal about 5 inches long.

The 2 inches of metal sticks onto the back of the holder with 3m tape. I bent the remaining 3 inches in a 90 degree, and stuck it in the card holder. works perfect, doesn't block anything but the 4 ways.
