Ok I don't know where to start, so here it goes:
I'll start with going to the dealership and service issues,
I brought it in for the first time, around 3000 miles, for a wobble/shimmy in 1st gear between 1000-3000 RPM, a high vibration in 3rd gear, and random stalling issues.
They were more worried about the stalling issue. They couldn't find anything wrong and could not replicate the stalling problem. To explain the stalling problem; I would come to a stop with it in neutral and the clutch pushed in and it would stall. There was no way that I could replicate it at the dealership, I tried my best. So I then told the dealership to check the spark plug gaps because I read about that problem on this forum. According to the dealership the spark plug gaps were all to spec. So they gave me the car back and totally ignored the shimmy/wobble problem but least to say the car has stopped randomly stalling.
Ok, so now I was at work, and my coworkers came up to me and said "is your car alright?" I went outside and I heard the transmission knocking on the right side of the transmission, if you were looking at it from the front under the hood. Now the car has about almost 5000 miles on it and the wobble/shimmy problem has gotten worse. So I took it for a 2nd time in at the dealership and reported the shimmy/wobble and the knock. They looked at it for a day, called tech support, I came in later that day to help the mechanic replicate the knocking and the wobble. The tech felt the wobble, couldn't feel the high vibration in 3rd and did hear the knocking. They called tech support and tech support told them it could be the double mass flywheel knocking or some bearing on the right side of the transmission. He pulled out his mechanic's stethoscope, and listened to the left and right side. On the left side is the flywheel and the right is the bearing. He heard it coming form the right side. They continued to tell me that they were going to crack it open and work on it. So I left the vehicle there over the weekend because they told me they were going to work on it Monday. So Monday comes. I get a call from the dealership around 12 o'clock, the service tech tells me that they talked to tech support more and that it all checks out to be normal and then I asked him "even the shimmy/wobble in 1st?" And he said "yes, that's normal." I said ok and I called GM corporate after I hung up with him, I told him exactly what happened just as I've stated here. He told me he would call the dealership, find out exactly what's going on, then call me back. Around 4 o'clock, I get a call back from GM, and they said to go pick my car up, test drive it because it's ready for pick up and if it continues to have that problem bring it back. And then, GM already told me they would call me back in the morning to see how the car reacted. So I picked it up, and it still had the same shimmy/wobble. It was dirty from the mechanics touching it so I took it to the car wash. When I was leaving the car wash, the check engine light came on, I immediately pressed the OnStar button and had them do a diagnostics. They said it was an air intake problem so I took it right back to the dealership. GM called me the next morning, and they said they talked to the dealership this morning, found out that I brought the car back for the same problem and a different problem. GM proceeded to tell me they would be passing it off to higher ups, and that I would receive a call 10/10/12 in the morning from a higher up. Did not get that call, I'm still waiting on that call.
Basically, my question to you guys is: Are you feeling the shimmy/wobble?
Here's how to replicate it;
At a stop, put it into 1st, let the clutch out slowly all the way, no gas, engaging 1st gear into idle then give it half to semi-full throttle and you should feel a shimmy/wobble in between 1000-3000 RPM
Just to tell you guys, this is just how to replicate it. It usually happens when I normally start in 1st, and it happens about 70% of the time. It's off and on. The shimmy is felt in the chassis, and it doesn't feel like it's coming from the tires. I've had the tires road forced and they're fine. My guess, it's either the axles or transmission. If you Google "shimmy/wobble chevy", this one thread comes up about a Malibu that has a shimmy/wobble but only when it's turning. GM says it's the axles.
Now how to replicate the high vibration in 3rd:
Just like if you were racing, not dumping the clutch in 1st but starting off fast then Floor it and climb it to 5500-6000 RPM then Shift into 2nd,Floor it and climb to 5500-6000 RPM again, shift into 3rd but do not let the clutch out and right when you shift into 3rd you should feel the shifter vibrate.
Thanks
