Wrecked my Sonic...

So yesterday on the way to work I was smack in the middle of a 5 car wreck on the highway. Pretty sure my car is totaled but I have not heard the official confirmation yet. I can attest to the safety of the Sonic though. I was hit from behind by an altima, then a E250 Plumbing Van (full of equipment) smashed into that car, pushing her far into me. The rear of the sonic absorbed an insane amount of damage.

I feel fortunate that I was not hurt in any way, not sore at all.

The woman behind me had to be taken to the hospital I have yet to feel any effects from the accident. Sadly my wife probably wont let me get another Sonic.

Do you know if they'll part this car out if it's going to a salvage yard? I would love to take this car as a donor vehicle for a new motor and transmission with ECU and everything else required for an engine swap.

I dont know yet, I'm supposed to get a call about the verdict on it being totaled (although im pretty sure it will be totaled)

I will let you all know when the verdict is in so you can contact them to find out, or better yet I may ask for you

She wants a car that we can actually fit the stroller in the back. So she probably going to make me get something a little older and cheaper and then use some of the remaining money to repair her car which needs brakes and few other things (2005 Corolla)

Personally, I'd say get a cruze if you want to stay in the sonic/cruze family. Please do let me know on this one. It would really help knowing the drivetrain came from a car built from 2013 to current in my 2012.

i have a 2015 equinox . it is fantastic for the family mover . plenty of room for my daughter,wife and all their stuff . the back seats have a ton of adjustment .which is great for multiple types of child seats. and its great for road trips . seat slide back giving more room for tall ppl . and the fwd 2.4L i4 is pretty good on gas . picked it up last may dont have any problems or complaints with it . and u can pick up a used one for a decent price.

I talked to Gerber Collision and he said this wreck will become property of AAA (my insurance) so they cant sell it, but AAA will probably auction it off.

Surprisingly there was no gas leakage, although the picture does look close to the gas tank.

As for the equinox I may see if I can find one in my area on cargurus. My wife was wanting a Nissan Murano but I read the CVT transmissions have a high failure rate. We will probably go look at cars this weekend. Gerber Collision valued my Sonic at $14,741. Not sure how much of that I will be getting.
