Oil dripping out of muffler, smoke blowing from exhaust

Hello!

My turbo recently blew because it was starved of oil. The tailpipe was blowing a lot of smoke so I pulled over. Replaced the turbo today, but there's still tons of smoke and chugging. I left the car running and got out to find the muffler dripping oil, so I assume there's around 3 or 4 quarts of oil in my exhaust from the last turbo giving out. Next thing I'm going to do is replace the PVC piping as a precaution and see how the intake manifold and throttle body look, and seeing about cleaning the old oil out of the pipes. Anything else I should be doing? I got told the cars exhaust like a skunk, and the first page of google says "often failed catalytic converter". I'm worried for my little daily driver, and a head gasket is something I'd really rather not pay for

If it ran dry of oil and it's smoking like that then you likely have a bad turbo (which you would possibly hear it, maybe not. Could be turbo bearing seals) or possibly which I'm thinking the case is broken, piston rings or even a cracked piston. The piston rings use oil trapped in between them to create kind of like an o-ring and that's what keeps the compression inside the cylinders kind of. But the problem that you have is if it ran dry it could burn up your piston rings. I'm thinking it's probably the turbo, but if you haven't checked your PCV valve and the intake manifold go look at cruiseTalk.com and check their forums because they have a good write up by this guy from bad news racing about how the PCV system in these cars work and they're a very common problem. Problem I can cause similar things. I have the same thing happen as did most people who own these cars, but I wasn't leaking oil out of the tailpipe. It wasn't that bad. Though. I did get oil in my intake tubing like my charge piping and in my intake manifold and in the inner cooler but it wasn't pooling up like yours is according to your post. But it would cause the car to start checking because it's causing a boost leak. It would cause oil to come out the tailpipe but not like oozing out. But it would definitely spit out clouds of smoke and stuff like that especially if it was really bad. So go to cruiseTalk then just look up PCV valve and it'll be hundreds of post about it and read that and try that first cuz that's most likely what your problem is. And a PCV fixed kid is like 60 bucks, 75 bucks or something like that. Then you can use the intake manifold that you have and put that kid on it and that should fix that problem. If it's that bad, you'll also have to replace the valve cover too at the same time and you'll see why when you read the article. But try that first and see if your PCV check valve in your intake manifold is still there and do the other checks that they say on the forums to see if that's even the problem. And if it looks like that's the problem, fix that. If you still have the issue then I would do a compression check and check your turbo itself. To check the turbo. Just pull off the intake tubing or the downpipe and wiggle the compressor or the impeller. Just grab it by the shaft and see if it wiggles. If it moves more than like fractions of an inch. I mean if it seems loose then you probably have bad bearings and a bad seal. And that would leak like a son of a b**** like James Bond smoke screen style smoked would come out of the back of your car every time your turbo' spooled up
