Yeah, that happens if the outside temperature is above freezing and the compressor is not running (AC or Defrost). Once it stays below freezing that problem goes away.

My car is garage-kept. But almost 5 min into driving anywhere all my windows start to fog up as well. I have tried full heat, with the compressor and defrosters on, with and without a window cracked.
Nothing seems to make a difference, eventually it goes away. Any ideas?

My windows fog up as well. There's nothing to do really, just think of it as the poor man's tinting. It will go away after the two of you put your clothes back on, start the engine, and run the defrost for a minute or two.

Seriously though, the Sonic is more prone to fogging than other cars I've driven, and the only solution I've found is to run Defrost, which impacts mpg. It isn't critical to run the heat very high, if that's uncomfortable. I don't know why this is, I guess something about the slope of the windshield causing a cooling effect, or something about how the vent system never seems to actually turn off?
It's usually not bad, but I remember some warm days back shortly after I bought it where I was running AC, then defrost, then AC, trying to keep comfortable but fog free on rainy days. Solution probably would have been to run AC and defrost both at once, blow cold but dehydrated air on the glass.

Interesting, are you suggesting that at all times, or just on dry days? I'd think on a rainy day recirc would be better, dryer air than the outside.
Dealer told me the idea was to use outside air till comfortable inside and then switch to recirc, but I figured it made more sense to use recirc any time I wanted inside air to move in the direction opposite outside... hm that's not very clear. I mean, if it's hotter inside than outside, and I want cooler, then outside air. If though it's cooler inside than out, and I want cooler, then recirc.
Haven't taken into account how that might affect the fogging issue though.

when fog or frost is an issue don't use recirc it will take much longer to work if it does work. I had allot of problems with that when I first moved out here.

I always use the outside air normally.
But my theory is that if you are trying to dehumidify the air, it would be smarter to dehumidify air that you just dehumidified...
If you keep taking moisture out of the same portion of air, eventually you will get as much out as the compressor can handle, including that coming off the windows.

Don't know about your recirculate button but mine appears to be worthless. In the good old days if I got caught behind a bus I would just hit the recirc button and no exhaust fumes entered the car. With my sonic recirc on or off does not appear to make a difference. Exhaust enters at will.
