RS and trailer hitch

I do a lot of bike riding and am trying to decide if the RS will work for what I need. The bike rack requires a trailer hitch to be installed so I know the LTZ model with work. I really like the RS though and was wondering if a trailer hitch is at all possible with the lower rear bumper? Any info would be appreciated.

I don't think the bumper is any lower on the RS. Just shaped a little differently. I have a hitch on my LTZ for carrying my MTB. I would give etrailer.com a call and ask about the RS. I really think the standard hatch hitch will work though. Good luck!

I have zero experience with the RS, but assume it rides an inch or so lower. I use a 1UpUSA bike rack with my LT hatch and it has good ground clearance. I especially like the 1Up rack because it angles upward and gives Xtra ground clearance in the back.

BTW, I'd recommend looking at the Curt brand hitch. I found it to be quite a bit stiffer than the draw-tite (or whatever brand name they put on it). I had the draw tite initially and replaced it with the Curt. The Curt, however, does go below the muffler, so you'll lose a bit of ground clearance there.

I have an RS and just installed the Curt on mine yesterday....installed easily, but it looks like the area that bridges under the muffler is in the wrong location by about 3"......It hit the exhaust and has pushed it up against the body panel, it hasn't melted anything yet. My brother-in-law owns a muffler shop, gonna have him see if there is anyway to persuade it so that it is not touching the body panel. The hitch is plenty stout.

DON'T GET A TRAILER HITCH AND RUIN THE LOOK OF YOUR CAR!

Instead, get one of these:

It's cheaper than a trailer hitch + bike rack, you can mount them on your roof so your bike won't be damaged, should someone drive into you, and it takes less than a minute to mount and remove the "rack" and bike.

Check out the mounting system on other forums. People have used it on their GT-R's and fancy carbon road bikes. The system works amazingly!

If you can give me a link to how to post pictures i would be glad to. If I had it to over again I would not have went with the Curt, But they looked more substantial.

The Sea Sucker system was originally designed for marine use. They can hold well over 100lbs of weight. You can mount your bike off the back of your car, then hop on the bike and it'll hold you up.

I'll be picking one up shortly after I start my new job!

The curt isn't designed for the rs, hence the contact.

Not designed for aftermarket exhausts either, had to extend the assembly as far out as possible to clear it.
