Yes there is a vent, but who has ever complained about a moist nipple.

Ok, but I guess i'm lost as to why it matters what the fluid levels supposed to be?

Like if the transmission is sealed, then we can't check how much fluid is in there, and we can't add any if it was low...

My dealer told me, almost exactly "There's no dipstick on the transmission, so if it goes, it goes and you need a new one either way."
So there's not really anything we can do about it if it was low anyway.

I have a nice light film of oil on the top of the trans, witch is why I was concerned with it.

It doesn't need a dipstick. That plug halfway up on the driver's side of the diff housing is how you check the level. It's very similar on 90% of manual transmissions built since the earth cooled off and settled into its current rotation.

When the fill plug is on the side, you add fluid until it just starts to hit the threads. For checking, you stick your pinky in there. If you can dip it in fluid without having to bend it excessively, you're fine.

Theoretically could you drain the trans fluid, run the transmission dead, put the fluid back in, warranty fix it? A manual transmission will function for a while with no fluid... but will eventually seize up. Typically, the roller bearings would destroy themselves before other parts are damaged. If you are lucky, the input or countershaft will seize first. If you are unlucky, the output shaft will seize.

I'm not planning on doing anything, I'm legitimately curious with the information you just told me, how they could prevent someone from doing that...
