my new to me turbo 6spd inferno sedan

Hello everyone please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Logan and I'm from western illionois and I just bought a 2012 sonic Lt sedan with 12k. It has the 1.4 liter Turbo engine with the 6 speed manual trans. The car is inferno orange with black interior. The car is bone stock now but I do have some mods planned for the future. I come from owning BMW's. I've owned three different e36 3 series (2 coupes and a sedan...still have one of the coupes) and I also had a e34 5 series for a short amount of time. Anyway coming from that background of course I want to drop my sonic, put ridiculously wide rims with slightly stretched tires. But I realize my sonic is not a BMW. Its fwd for one thing. It also only has 138 HP. But I bought it for many reasons. The warranty, the price, the fuel economy, and it still handles the twisties similarly to my BMW's. This is my daily driver so as much as I think "fast and furious" cars are cool I don't plan on going overboard in the performance department. I am however a commission painter at a gm dealer. Therefore this car will be a prime example of all show and no go (compared to all the high HP cars on the roads these days...I realize my sonic has plenty of pep for daily driving). My plans are as follows and in order of when they will be done...black out Chevy emblems, tint tails and side markers, black out all chrome accents on outside of car, black out stock 15' rims, get my sub and amp hooked up, jewellet.com in dash
7' screen kit, 3d carbon ground Fx kit w/spoiler, intake, exhaust(not loud), trifecta tune, maybe a bov, maybe a short shift kit and shift bushings, and then rims and tires last. I may drop it one day but definitely not anytine soon and it would have to be a quality coilover setup. And maybee a lsd if a quality kit becones available one day. Welcome, I'll jump right to your mods you have planed. If you wanting a exhaust but not a super loud one I would recommend the magnaflow cat back, other then that looks like you have it all figured out. As far a suspension I would go peddlers if you are willing to spend the money

Is there any other mods I should look into that I haven't mentioned...or any of the Ines I did mention that is should hold off on or think more about? Again I don't wanna go too crazy and I don't want to void my warranty

Also, any suggestions on how to "Red-out" those same chrome pieces on my RS to match the RS red color?

welcome. Sounds like a nice list of mods. you should probably do the tune before the intake and exhaust.

also there are already several LSDs available. do a search and you should be able to find the thread about them

Welcome, the 7in. screen kit I assume is all new head unit? I believe people have discussed before that you will lose your factory Hands free phone function when you change the HU. I'm not sure if anyone has found was around this yet if possible.[/QUOTEthe jewellett kit is compatible with factory steering wheel controls. hiwever i dont have steereing wheel controls so i dont have to worry about that although i do plan on adding steereing wheel audio controls one day ive seen the camaro guys do it relatively easily....

I've been thinking about this very problem as getting paint to stick to the chrome is a big problem. I considered plasti-dip which looks great at first but the more you wash it (which my car will be getting washed almost daily) the crappier it looks and starts to peel. My next thought is to scuff the peices as best I can with a red Scotch bright then giving them a coat of adhesion promoter before I paint them black and clear them. This is the route I'm going to try. I'm still unsure if the paint will hold or if it will flake off. In your case with the red you could plastic dip them and then paint rattle red over the plastidip which like I said will hold for a while or you could try the adhesion promoter like I'm gonna...its kind of a crap shoot either way you look at it...

I'll let you know how it works. Im probably going to use some test peices from a broken bumper at the shop and then spray them with the pressure washer to see how the paint holds up.

Thanks for the suggestion...you make a valid point as the tune can be redone every time I get a new mod. And an LSD would be nice but I'll look more seriously into one when I've got the rest of my wish list ( a couple grand or more later)

Welcome! Post some pictures before you make some changes. As far as mods, start with the tune. It makes a big difference in performance.

That is some thing I have considered doing to my RS as well. I do remember when I was doing ht same thing to some chrome parts on my Harley, I found a pigmented semi transparent paint. I'll have to do some digging get the name of the product.
