Ordering Intake

Yes time and easier to swap back to stock if I have to go in for service.

This is why I decided to just buy this intake. The other option as I see it would be to modify the stock intake/box, but would obviously be an easy target for warranty denial if it ever came to that.

Hopefully I don't get the "bogged down" effect with the auto.

For those who have the weapon R intake installed and with auto's just wondering if the intake is amplifying the engine sound alot. My auto trans shifts VERY EARLY 5th gear going 44km/h so when it get into 5th the engine is "bogged" down and any acceleration cause the intake to rattle and amplify the engines bogging down sound and it sounds TERRIBLE...just wondering if anyone is experiencing this also?

I think i know what ur talking about does it kinda sound like a boat? Lol mine did that when i had the injen intake but i recently took it off for stock with k&n....intakes are noisy basically

Just an update, I installed the mount and it helped a lot with the rattling...i completly got rid of the rattling by buying some pipe insulation and surrounding placing it at the point of contact with the mount to absorb any vibration, works great!

Good luck, I sent mine in too. CAI is causing the car to suffer (occassional rough idle, poor overall acceleration). Hoping it just needs some massaging. No error lights/codes, and I made sure everything was tight.

Which intake do.you have? I have the injen with the initial tune decided to put stock back on because i listened to everybody else idk why and my car ran like hell. Put back intake and it ran much better.. i cant wait for the k&n at least im going to.buy their filter for tje injen so.dusty where i am

I don't get the injen hate personally I like mine and won't be tradeing it . Call me a skeptic of the norm here but I doubt its as bad as some make it to be esp when my car feels otherwise

Figured my issue out, MY FAULT.

Make sure you done have a leak( where it connects to the tb or pinched the o-ring for the maf

Haha, okay so not only was it my fault, it was a REALLY stoopid mistake. The ram intake on the front of the filter is the same size as the intake side. I had the ****ing filter on backwards. Did a bomber job on the install, then flubbed the easier part! lol

I let BNR know. Seems to be running great now (still a bit rough on cold starts and still got an engine light even after clearing all CELs). Will log and tune later. Just thankful my fresh mind looking at it in the parking lot a few minutes ago saw the obvious.

It's funny that A) it would even fit, and B) they would have the connections on both ends be the same size. :sadbanana:

Other than the cold start rough idling for a minute, car seems to be running well. Logging today and will be looking forward to a nicely tuned vehicle soon. The engine light that was on after the first rough start has disappeared too. Is it possible the engine is slowly adapting to the new intake?

Don't know if it's a rattle, but there's a distinct noise made when accelerating at certain RPMs under load. Is this the crappy noise people talk about with cold air intakes? It's kinda annoying but it's actually teaching me to stop sinking my foot into the pedal so much (and I avoid the low grunting rattle sound). I have the thing mounted with a bracket, doesn't seem to help either way so I assume it's just a noise the intake makes in certain situations.

The rattle sound was what I was talking about, it's there to stay, I hate it though, biggest problems is when it goes into 4th and 5th gear(5th being the worst). Makes annoying rattling sound. And my intake threw a code too, it took 2 days and it went away also...so guessing it's all good

what kind of sound does it make when it's in a high gear and you're on the gas at a low rpm? That's when mine rattles... wondering if I installed something wrong...

It's an engine sound. Just as Paradox describes, it happens in higher gears under load at low RPMs (like going up an incline in a high gear). The car used to 'grunt' (low frequency growl) in the same situations before, so I think it's resonation coming from the manifold being amplified by the intake.

Now I'm waiting for the tune and will drive it for a few thousand miles before I decide if I can live with the noise or not. Cruising on the highway it doesn't happen much.

Funny we had the same engine light experience. After a day+ the light went away. Cold start this morning (same temps as prior morning) very little rough idling. I think the engine is slowly adapting to the intake. Can't say I notice much improvement, perhaps a bit when really pushing it hard. It does seem even more responsive than before, which is saying a lot because the tune alone provided a lot more response over stock.
