I’m interested in an LT1 1.4L, 6 speed trans, and black interior. Does anyone know why there are none to be found in the New England area? Is it simply a supply vs. demand issue? Are the 1.4 L motors allocated for cars with auto trans or are they being put into the Cruze? I have only sat in a Sonic but would love to drive one like I described above. By the way great website and very informative.

Have you tried the vehicle locator on Chevrolet.com? Thats how I got my car back in November, albeit I'm in the midwest. My car hadn't even been delivered to the dealer yet, it was still on the train!

If you don't get a response from your dealer, you may want to try contacting another GM dealership in your area. Your salesperson at your local dealership should be able to answer supply and demand questions on the Sonic. Also, they should be able to find inventory/check availability on the vehicle that you are looking for.

Vanessa – Thank you for taking the time to reply. Reading my own post actually got me a little angry at myself. I checked the dealer’s inventory and they show an LTZ on the lot with the 1.4L motor and manual transmission. All I want is to test drive the car to see if I’m interested in it. I just need to assess the powertrain and suspension for that an LTZ will do just fine. Next step is crunching the numbers. After that and I don’t mean to offend anyone here on this board is whether to make the purchase. It’s a little difficult for me because I have not owned an American vehicle in a very long time.

Understood completely. My first car was a Ford Probe and I hated it, and havent owned American since (only Hondas) but American cars have come quite a ways in the last few years. They've had to... LOL
I did make to a different dealer today for a test ride well sort of. I drove a LT sedan with a 1.8L motor and manual transmission. The Sonic drove really nice I was surprised how quiet the car was and the performance was good. Next I drove Cruze Eco with the same powertrain I want in the Sonic. The motor was sweet and it had so much torque. The shifter was pretty smooth the throws were a little long but not horrible. Overall I could not be happier with the powertrain and I can’t imagine how it would perform in a vehicle 400 pounds lighter. I like the Cyber Grey color and I was able to see a Cadillac SUV with the same paint color I was happy with that as well. I’m stunned at the quality of GM’s vehicles they really have come a long way.
