But windows up and AC off will consume less than either, and the best windows down can achieve is ambient temps plus some wind chill effect. That's why I figure use windows to dump built up heat, AC to reach comfortable, and recirc vent to keep things moving, would be the ideal plan. Again, we'll see how I feel driving around in the 90's later.
I also hate what the highway speed wind does to my eyes, so I'm biased in favor of AC.
As for cold weather, I'm still looking into rigging it so blowing hot air on the windshield doesn't also automatically turn on the compressor; I feel I can manually do that via the AC button and save by using compressor only when I actually need the drying effect.
I completely agree. Now having a sunroof, the movement of air in my cabin has been dramatically improved. I'm not as concerned over mileage as I probably should be. I just do whatever makes me happy. If that means using A/C while sitting in traffic, so be it!
