Need your advice

The 1.8 is made for those of us who buy the Ls and don't want to spend another couple grande to upgrade. Although I am very happy with my 1.8 if I would have went with a lt or Ltz I would have a turbo. 700 at that point is a no brainier

Sadly the car I got was the one they had on the lot and I didn't feel like ordering one

Also, I get 35-36 mpg and I'm even tuned. I understand a turbo would be over 40 though. In either case both are better then the 17 I was getting

Yea but the issue is if ONLY the 1.4T was made then the LS would have it. I seriously think the only reason there is an LS\LT\LTZ\RS is because people like options and it really has nothing to do with saving money. I have to believe making all these different versions is actually more costly in the end.

Yes the situation I would prefer would be the LS with everything available over the base model as options, so you could build something straight LS but with the turbo, or with the turbo and the RS tail, or with the turbo and six speed, or... well, any combination you can imagine. Except that if you elect to spend more than the base LS price and don't get the turbo they take you out back and break your left kneecap. Because I'm all for options but there are some decisions that? What? Too harsh? OK, line me up for another take Cecil, I'm ready for my closeup...

The LS should have every option available, at a price, and the only thing the "trim packages" should do is bundle together some sets to give you a discount, and to give dealers some different standard packets to have in stock. It should not be impossible, or even stupidly expensive, to get manual windows, 1.4t, sunroof, fog lights, RS steering calibration, all in one package.

The Sonic has the 1.8 for the simple reason many American economy car buyers will not consider a forced induction vehicle.

I too rail against the packaged limits on choices with the Sonic but even the StingRay has certain limitations, for example one can only get the Magnetic Selective Ride Control Suspension with the Z-51 Performance Package. To me it should be just the opposite.

I agree l.s. a lot of the older people I know that drive Eco cars will not even think about a turbo car because in there mind it's meant for performance. Even know performance is increased with the turbo you can achieve the same power with a smaller motor witch we all knows means better mpg

and after you're done dumping money into that 1.8 for the better internals you can then continue to dump more money into it for fuel.

My response was clearly in regards to him claiming the 1.8 will be the "greater" or "better" engine.
