So after checking out Thaifight-R's thread on body kits I started searching the snot out of this Thai forum chevysonic-club.com using google translator and found these:

Those look pretty sweet. But be warned. If they don't come as fully assembled units, you will have to be a skilled headlightsmith to convert your own.

I think they might be homebrew retrofits. Aftermarket projector headlights usually try to look more different from stock ones.

They are projectors with halos behind or on the shroud. Check The Retrofit Source online: headlight upgrades for all applications but as preloader mentioned, its not a drop in kit. It involves cutting or baking the lens off.

well I'll be. lol. Retrofit or not, they're still BA. If I have to bake the assemblies, no worries. I've not it before on my cobalt. Granted, I'll prob do the same thing I did then. Get a spare pair. I'll look into your thread though, Beastlick.

Yeah I agree, they do look great. I ordered an extra pair when doing my retro. Careful with the baking, I believe the cobalt has a grey butyl seal where the sonic has a black permaseal.

^ All I remember is baking each assembly it like 250 for about 30 minutes then re bake for 15 to re mel;t the glue before putting the lens back on.

Checked out your thread. BA set up. Although, I'd work it differently. I am curious tho, did you just bake or did you have to cut as well?

Those retrofit kits are cool too. I wish I or someone knew about them on css.net. If so I would have done those while I had everything apart. Oh well... Can't dwell o the past. Namely why I'm aiming for a Panda look for the Sonic instead of blue and gold. You'll see in time.

Haha. I tried/failed baking the tail lights open, they warped before even close to separating. I have since cut open both tails and headlights on the Sonic. They must be cut open, then glued back together.

You will be better off, custom engineering your own, like Beastlick, than trying to track down a kit from Mongolia. Hehe

The amount of work will be the same, but at least you can get exactly what you desire for your result.

I originally tried baking for 250 for 20 and nothing budged, then I tried another 250 for 10 and I could feel the black housing starting to get soft and the seal was still rock hard, so I said F'it and cut them apart.

HAHA! I've actually already checked out your build thread. Very nice set up. However I'm gonna go for a simpler and more "classic" approach to a Panda design. Prob gonna forego the CF too. Got too much I wanna do with a 5k budget to afford CF. After looking at Beastlick's thread on the subject and thinking back to all my research for my old cobalt, I'm going to have to agree with you on the custom set up. In fact, I already have a couple ideas I'm gonna mess with.

Lame; and yet, not surprised. Nothing Chevy ever does is in the best interest of the mod'ing community. Did you just use a dremel with a strong cutting wheel?

yeah the fiber reinforced ones work great and don't break as easily. It slices through the lens like butter though.

So I've done a little research. I may have found a way to get my hands on a few of these Thai Sonic Headlights. I will update everyone here if anyone is interested.
