Nice. counter productive to my goal for now, but still nice to see that 1.8 development has not simmered yet.

50 mpg goal.

Best so far is 46.1 with an average over the 700 mile trip of 44.48. No fancy hypermile tricks so far.

As I get closer warranty being up, only about 75K to go, I will be piecing together what I need to go turbo.

I have pulled 46( it was fairly tricky) on my daily drive to work (35 one way ) that's with beings tuned, not a large road trip so it's a little different. I think 50 is very doable

46.1 was at 60 MPH with a couple stops and a few hours of heavy winds and rain. one passenger with me, plus normal weekend crap and 4 bowling balls. Not a huge payload, but im sure it didnt help to much. I was running the stock tune at the time. Was going to compare tunes on the way home, but the trip out sucked due to running A/C the whole way. Was something like 42.8 on the way out.

6 speed swap will probably be my best upgrade for economy, but that is down the road still. 15 mpg over EPA rating is usually kinda hard to atain without hypermile techniques. Add in some modifications and you have the recipe for reduced economy. I may try a pure highway run at 55 MPH some night. Last attempt was probably done on winter blend.

So your concern is whether the DDM hurts mpg by bringing in colder air? If it's similar to the 1.4T's setup, I don't think it actually does that, it's bringing in engine compartment air, while the SAB breathes thru the fender. The heat shield means colder air than ZZP and significantly colder than the Injen which runs over the engine itself... but I would think still no cooler than the SAB.

I probably would've gotten the DDM if it was out, but the production for it pretty much stopped until now. It looks great.
