First ever brand new car!
My '96 Geo Prizm died on me in early April... and I had to use my '01 GMC Sierra 2500HD as my daily driver. Commuting 110 miles a day for work really ate a hole in my wallet in gas for the 14mpg truck.
I started looking for vehicles. I wanted a hatchback, so I could have a dog crate in the back for my rottweiler. And it had to have awesome gas mileage for my commute.
At first I was looking at larger SUV/crossovers, like the Equinox or the Terrain, both of which offer 32mpg hwy.
Then I found the Sonic... slightly better gas mileage, far cheaper, and now built here in Michigan!
Have had it 6 days, and already have 600 miles on it... will be at 710 by the time I get home from work tonight.
I'm still learning every day how to work the various gizmos... owner's manual is going to be pretty well worn soon. Had a heck of a time trying to figure out how to turn off the child locks, and work the rear wiper without also spraying washer fluid at the same time. Manual to the rescue.
Was pretty bummed that the MyLink addition deleted the standard CD player. Now I have to get used to listening to music other ways.
My XM radio went to the preview station only last night, so I'm about to get on the phone with them. Will also be searching the forum for a list of supported USB flash drives... put a little bit of music on an 8GB San Disk Cruzer yesterday, only to plug it in and read "Unsported Device found" on the screen... Also need to figure out if my phone (Motorola Photon Q 4G) has voice recognition (I've never used it before if it has it), because I'm loving the hands-free talking. Would be even better if I could dial and select phone numbers hands-free, too!
