I brought my Sonic and Sierra (another 2 hours on top of the 8 on the Sonic...) back to stock to trade in on a '13 STi, see my post above to see pics of it. The car came in a week and a half early and I was on leave up to the day before heading to the dealer to trade them in, I was kind of forced into it. Makes me wish I would have started on the Sonic before I started leave, but driving the car after bring it back to stock was pretty awful.....

I spent yesterday repairing the damage from the neighborhood's festivities on July 4. :sadbanana:
Freshly fallen rain, beaded up on the surface, and fallout from hours of fireworks settling on the paint was not a good combination. I awoke to find large white splotches all over the car where the fallout-contaminated water dried, plus cardboard and powder all over the car. I knew this was coming so I made sure I had a new clay bar kit on hand...
The Sonic required a good washing, claying, and finally a follow up with Turtle Wax Ice to get back into a good looking state. Those spots took a lot of effort to get taken care of.

Well OK I did this yesterday, but I was gone yesterday.
Somebody decided to hit my RF door with their door in a parking lot somewhere.
So yesterday I let a friend buff out all the little imperfections on my little car. It really does look better than the day I brought it home new.
Of course now I really need to wax soon. This guy does this for a living, he says Meguiers and Mothers both make a fantastic product designed to use with clear coats. Check the labels. Make sure the label says "safe to use with clear coats"

I loved my 98 S10, bought it new and drove it 140,000 miles and didn't do anything but brakes, water pump, and clutch to it. BEAT THE HELL out of it whole time and kept coming back for more.
Great truck, whats the plans for it once running??

Oh man, Betty's been through it all! 1994 barebones 5-speed. She still runs, just had a weak battery from sitting for so long. I WISH there were big plans, but it's sentimental to hubby, so I can't really do anything to it. The roof is in poor shape, so I am going to have to paint it or something, other than that.. just clean her up and beat the crap out of her some more!
When I met my hubby, he was driving this truck, and I was driving a 1985 4-speed s-10 that was beat to hell and I bought it that way. It was a piece of work, painted with a roller..busted windshield, but $500 and it got me through college, AND would spin tires in 1st, 2nd AND 3rd.
Betty was ALMOST totaled the day my hubby proposed to me, he drove it home and slammed a deer with it. Kind man all I got was an email with photos the next morning, and after the photos.. two words: I'm FINE. I could have totaled HIM after making me hyperventilate in class like that! We fixed her, then two years later she was totaled out by hail the size and shape of lemons. We totaled her, bought her back and kept the money.
226K miles and the ONLY thing we have done is fight with a bad throw-out bearing. <3 her.

Man the truck does have some memories to it huh??
I never met an S10 that didn't have some throw-out bearing chatter. Fix her up and drive her as long as you can...enjoy.
