Apple infiltrating autos now?

Just read in Motor Trend which arrived today... Apple has signed on with several car mans including GM to use iOS in-car..... so my thoughts are... will this replace the MyLink? and at what cost will it be if MyLink goes bye-bye and I have to "upgrade" to Apple? Let's hope they get all the glitches out BEFORE anything is released.

I currently use a Windows Phone (Nokia 920), but do use my iPod for my music.

They should use Android with Google maps built in for navigation, just make it a tablet.

The Sonic is already Apple friendly...my iPhone and iPod immediately sync up and all controls work. My wife's galaxy 3 has a hella time working with the car. Can only get the phone connected, her music won't play, and controls don't work with it.

That's weird, my Galaxy S3 works great with it, music, apps, phone. And I don't have to plug it in to the USB port, just get in the car and it connects. I leave a USB drive in the port full of MP3s.

That sounds great... I can't believe someone with windows is ripping on an apple product about working out problems BEFORE release..... I seem to remember bill gates unavailing a new os and getting a blue screen...

My link is ok but I'd like upgrades. An App Store would be great.

Honestly, would be fine with having the Microsoft demons exorcised from my Sonic. I blame all of its flakiness on the fact that MyLink runs Windows. :banana:

Though that doesn't necessarily mean I am an Apple fanboy. I have some of their stuff and it's OK. But I'd rather have MyLink running on some sort of embedded Linux. opcorn:

I wasn't trying to rip on Apple...just more curious about what it would cost to change OS bc I'm gonna assume it won't be free. I have nothing against Apple, I love my iPod and MacBook Pro.

My Droid Razr Maxx works just fine with the MyLink in my RS, just yesterday I started playing a YouTube video (at home of course) and selected Bluetooth, started streaming right through my speakers perfectly. There is about a 1-1.5s lag, but it's only for the audio/video sync and since Im not watching the video while driving, doesnt matter to me.

Phone, Pandora, etc all work just fine. Wish GM would go open source and let 3rd parties start building MyLink apps, I'd be all over that! Google Maps integration FTW!

It's not going to change the OS. It's just gonna be an app like the my link apps you already have, but with links into the functionality of the apps on your phone....
